The Restoration Show - Sunday 13th November 2005

The regular venue of the Shepton Mallet showground saw plenty of visitors this year. We were blessed with a relatively mild day and had the added benefit of a stand in the main hall. Not one person had icicles or frozen feet, (for those delights join us at the January show!). Lots of folk stopped and chatted, showing great interest in our three display cars. Thanks to Mike Wright for the old red car, to Chris and Pauline for the middle aged red car and to Dave and Tracey for the new black one !!.

I’ve just been reprimanded and told that after nine years in the club I can’t get away with those descriptions- so here goes…

On our stand we had the pleasure of displaying a TD a B and a ZR.

There were lots of stalls and bargains to be had. If you don’t believe me then watch out for the amazing raffle prizes coming in the next few months! For those of you who missed this show then mark your diaries for the last weekend in January 2006 and join us at Shepton Mallet for the Bristol Classic Car Show.

Trafalgar Run – Sunday 30th October 2005

The hardy ‘Club’ members decided to do the ‘Trafalgar Run’ which we had not supported previously.

But, this run was only on the Sunday and as it was a considerable distance to travel for a one-day event, so we decided to make a ‘week-end ‘ of it.

As can be seen from the photo we did what we do best, solicialise.

Saturday morning we then proceeded to the Eden Project, where we had a ‘photo shoot’.

We had a fantastic day, apart from the fact that the heavens ‘opened’ mid afternoon. No problem. It did not distract from a very enjoyable day.

On Sunday morning we travelled to Falmouth to register for the ‘Trafalgar Run’. Nearing Falmouth we passed some hotels/guest we heard some one shout ‘Bristol’ to discover that the Exeter ‘mob’ were also attending.

The Run.

It was very good. However, on the run we encountered, at quite a few destinations where cars were congregating from different directions, and, probably, there were a number of ‘domestics or divorces’ imminent, the stress level was quite high.

All obstacles were overcome and we arrived at the final destination, the Lord Haldon Hotel, where a cream tea awaited us, along with a ‘goodie bag’, which contained a bottle of special beer, a beer mat and special leaflets, which were very much appreciated and very informative.

At the end of the day we had a very very good weekend and very good company.
