CHAIRMAN’S CHAT In the last edition’s Chairmans Chat I highlighted the celebration events of 100 years of MG. Well the centenary also got a major acknowledgement at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with the marque taking pride of place on this year’s central feature. The front-of-house sculpture, always an iconic feature of the festival, was designed as always by Gerry Judah. On its central spar are two definitive open-top sportscars representing MG’s past and future, the MG B and the new MG Cyberster. The sculpture captures what are the two defining elements of MG: lightweight design and clever engineering as it captures the essence of the ‘Horseless to Hybrid’ theme of the 2024 festival. Another major bit of MG news from Goodwood was the global debut of the MG Cyberster GTS. The new model GTS, being shown as a concept car for now, is expected to become a GT coupé version of the Cyberster that made its debut at Goodwood last year. Details are limited but we do know that any coupé model will offer 2+2 seating along with improved rigidity that comes from the addition of a roof. Early indications suggest the Cyber GTS could make it to production in 2025, which would conveniently mark the 60th anniversary of the MGB GT, and all signs are suggesting that this is exactly what MG wants to do. SECRETARIES’ SLOT Hi All It’s so nice to have had some sunshine and warmth after the dismal start to the Summer – now that’s a very British way of starting any conversation! With all the Summer events that have been attended, your magazine has been expanded to 28 pages for this issue! This is very encouraging as it shows that members are attending and enjoying events all around the region – both those organised by BAMGOC and those arranged by others. However, I’m sure that some of you have attended events not reported anywhere in Fast Forward so please send in a few words and photographs of any trips you enjoy in your MG to secretary.bamgoc@gmail.com. This will ensure that the next magazine will have some content! [Remember that Word documents are great for words (as the name suggests) but make a poor job of photos. So, please include your photos into the Word document by all means but also email photos in separately so that the best can be made of them.] Now - this really is THE LAST CALL FOR BRUNEL BOOKINGS! The event has come very close to cancellation but we are pleased to now say that it will be going ahead – albeit with reduced numbers compared to previous years. You can find a booking form on our website [www.bamgoc.co.uk] so we look forward to your last minute bookings. October seems a fair way off but Club Night in October is BAMGOC’s AGM so the preliminary paperwork is included as a pull-out in the centre of this magazine. Please do read it and respond. The AGM itself never takes too long so we hope to organise something to entertain you for the rest of the evening. Hélène and Pauline

A plea for the magazine: It takes all of two minutes to stop and take a picture; how many of you now own a digital camera? How many of you own a computer? It would be lovely to feature some members cars being used as they should each month. It is so simple to email them, just say who its from and where it was taken, if you wish to write more we will be more than pleased. Email to MAGAZINE PHOTOS - thankyou.
The magazine is financed by both your membership fees and our advertisers. If you, or anyone you know, wishes to advertise in Fast Forward then here are the rates - full page £15, half page £10, quarter page £5. There are 6 issues a year so the maximum cost is £90. Copies go to all members plus copies are handed out at Moss, Chris Leverett Classics and at any shows we attend.
Thank you to everyone who sends in reports for the magazine. Word documents are great for words (as the name suggests) but make a poor job of photos. So, please include your photos into the Word document by all means but also email photos in separately so that the best can be made of them. Thank you - Pauline
